Silage Mats (40kg Heavy Duty)

Our heavy duty 40kg Silage mats are used to cover silage or maize in pits. The heavy 2m x 1m x 18mm silage mats will not blow off or lift in the wind. The uniform distribution of the weight across the pit ensures that a tight air seal is maintained.

Our 40kg Silage Mats provide total protetion against birds. Birds cannot peck through the silage mats. The covered lifting handles seal up, providing total protection.

Economic Case: The better the seal the better the quality of silage. Higher quality wet feed stock translates directly into milk Quality / yield in Diary herds and weight gain in Livestock

Environment argument: Using the Silage mats slows down the decomposition process. This inturn dramatically reduces the volume of effluent from the the silage pit.

Efficiency: The ease of handling, storage and movement around the farmyard on pallets improves efficiency.

Health and safety: Eliminates problems associated with using tyres to weigh down silage covers:

Eliminates risk of infection from metal wire protruding from old used tyre that can pierce the skin and cause tetanus or blood poisoning

Eliminates risk of contamination of feed stock from metal decomposition in old tyres.

Protects farm labourers: As there are no tyres, this removes hundreds of pools of stagnant water

thereby removing a breeding area for infection such as veils disease.
